Location
Description
At the former location of a weaving mill in the German city of Stuttgart, Bouwfonds Immobilienentwicklung realised 30 apartments and two industrial buildings. The new residential area is named Alte Weberei after the weaving mill. The realisation involved redevelopment of a former industrial site in a desirable, heavily populated city district, into an attractive residential area. Because demolition had to be kept to a minimum, the buildings purchased by Bouwfonds were included in the plan development. Moreover, the new buildings had to blend with the typical architectural style of the district. The historical façade on the Hasenbergstraße was preserved; the buildings behind it fit in with the design of the earlier industrial architecture. The homes were designed as spaciously as possible within the urban development preconditions and available space. Moreover, the residents have their own individual parking place in an underground garage. There are many facilities in the district located in a small area, including schools, a hospital, a subsector office, commercial buildings and infrastructure.
