Location
Description
The Teglværkshavnen residential building project is situated in the southern, former harbour area of Copenhagen. The project consists of 120 apartments, of which half are owner-occupier homes and half are public housing rental homes. Of these, Bouwfonds Bolig developed 59 owner-occupier homes on three islands. Teglværkshavnen was partially realised on six man-made peninsulas, where optimum use could be made of the qualities of the water. Moreover, one island was made on which there is a single-level parking garage. From the wooden platforms, people can swim, fish and go canoeing directly in front of their homes. There is a recreational harbour close to the homes with various water sport activities, which are only intended for residents.
A special type of home was introduced to enable the occupants to experience a sense of living both among trees and directly on the water: six-metre wide panorama apartments with flexible layouts. The buildings are fairly narrow. All homes get sunlight on two or three sides. The windows stretch from the floor to the ceiling, mainly placed next to wall partitions to let the diminishing daylight in the rooms at certain times of day and to get maximum enjoyment from the reflection of the light on the water.
